Civil Society and Participation

To help inform the Home Office/Treasury joint review into Charities and Terrorist financing, we published  Security and Civil Society  in January 2007.  The report made a number of recommendations as to how government should work with civil society to combat any abuse of charities.

In June 2005 NCVO published  Civil Renewal and Active Citizenship: a guide to the debate .

The report explores thinking on civil society, civil renewal and active citizenship, examining theoretical perspectives, government policies and the views of voluntary and community organisations. I

t highlights the value of voluntary action within civil society and the significant contribution of the voluntary and community sector to civil renewal.

It also makes a number of recommendations as to how government and the sector can work together to further their shared aims for civil renewal and active citizenship.
